CHAPTER 02

When is the best time to freeze?

Egg quantity decreases with age, and egg quality also declines. The recommended optimal age for egg freezing is 30-34. Based on AMH and ovarian function assessment, the physician will plan the most suitable personalized treatment.

FAQ

QWill Egg Freezing affect the number of eggs in future pregnancies?
No. About 15–20 follicles will develop in each menstrual cycle, but naturally only one will be selected to ovulate, and the rest will be absorbed. Egg Freezing only "rescues" the eggs that were originally intended to be absorbed and does not affect the ovarian inventory.
QHow many eggs are recommended to be frozen?
It is generally recommended to accumulate 15–20 high-quality eggs before the age of 35, and it is expected to achieve a live birth rate of 65–80%. For those aged 35, it is recommended to take 25 or more.
QWill egg retrieval hurt?
With Shumian anesthesia, the process is sensationless and ends when you wake up. There may be slight abdominal distension after the operation, which will recover within 1–2 days.
QHow long can eggs be stored?
Vitrified eggs can be stored in liquid nitrogen for more than 10 years, and there have been cases in the world of successful pregnancy after 20 years of thawing. Taiwan's current regulations can be preserved until a woman reaches the age of 50.
