Customizing a Healthy Baby
At the age of 40, Ms. Hou had previously undergone four IVF treatments at other clinics.
However, due to advanced maternal age affecting egg quality, the resulting embryos were of poor quality. Several embryo transfers did not lead to pregnancy, and she had originally felt discouraged and decided to give up.
Later, through a friend’s recommendation, she came to Yun-I Fertility Center. After consulting and discussing with Dr. Hui-Po Li, she decided to undergo another IVF treatment at Yun-I.
After Dr. Li’s careful evaluation, he found that she also had multiple uterine fibroids, which could affect embryo implantation. Therefore, he designed a detailed and personalized IVF treatment plan specifically for her.
Dr. Li recommended that she undergo preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy, PGT-A, to first screen and freeze high-quality blastocysts, followed by myomectomy to remove the uterine fibroids.
After creating a good implantation environment, embryo transfer would then be performed.
In October 2022, Dr. Li selected suitable ovarian stimulation injections for her.
After egg retrieval, embryos were cultured using the Time-Lapse Embryo Incubator.
With just one egg retrieval, embryos that tested normal through PGT-A were successfully developed and frozen.
In mid-November, Dr. Li performed a myomectomy for Ms. Hou and removed 8 fibroids of different sizes.
After 3 months of postoperative recovery, once the uterine implantation environment was confirmed to be ready, embryo transfer was performed in March this year — and she became pregnant successfully on the first try.
At the end of November, Ms. Hou safely delivered a healthy and adorable baby by cesarean section performed by Dr. Li.
Because the uterus after fibroid surgery provided an excellent environment, the baby weighed 4,235 grams.
Within one year, the couple completed one egg retrieval and one embryo transfer at Yun-I, undergoing a detailed and safe personalized treatment plan. They finally held their baby in their arms.
